Chanda spent much of summer 2014 teaching as part of the faculty at the American Institute for Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz. As a Lieder Coach she led a studio of a dozen undergraduate and graduate level voice majors and one DMA piano candidate. She designed and performed a concert program with her studio at the end of the session entitled “Power Paare” featuring songs from the duos Robert and Clara Schumann, Gustav and Alma Mahler, and Fanny and Felix Mendelssohn, ending with a staged encore of Tom Lehrer’s “Alma” which brought down the house. The students had biweekly coachings and a voice class with Chanda, and in audition she gave academic lectures to all vocal participants on Hugo Wolf and Clara Schumann. She looks forward to returning to AIMS as soon as her schedule permits.
