Modern Motherhood

Modern Motherhood

Mosaïque 26 May 2015

On Tuesday, May 26th join Mosaïque for a non-traditional mother’s day event we’re calling “Modern Motherhood” combining three M-things that we love to hate: Mothers, Modern Music and Mimes.

Performance artist Liz Sixsensius joins sopranos Sarah Tuleweit and Claudia Guarin, mezzo Caitlin McKechney, violinists Silvia Kanicki & Johanna Summereder, narrator Brigitte Pekarek and pianist Chanda VanderHart for an evening of song, verse, movement and shopping that answers the question “are you really going to wear that?”

Shopping, you ask? Darn tootin’!  Mosaïque  is not just attractive and fun, we also have a social conscience. In honor of Mother’s Day we’re raising money and collecting clothes for half-ways homes in Vienna which serve women and children who are victims of abuse- both domestic and substance, as well as poverty.  The flea-market doors will open 2 hours early for those who seriously need to get their fashion on, and the opportunity to shop will extend to the intermission and post-concert. All proceeds from the sale will go to projects benefiting the Frauenhäuser.

Come early for the fashion, stay for beautiful music by Britten, Strauss, Hyung-ki Joo, Ruth Schontal and much, much more, and feel free to dress 50s vintage; that’s what we’ll be doing!

If anyone is interested in donating their fabulous clothes or their time before or during the event, please contact Jennifer Davison or Chanda VanderHart.

Doors open at 5:30 PM and the concert begins at 7:30 PM !

Chanda VanderHart – pianist, chamber musician, art song accompanist, vocal coach.

In 2015, Chanda celebrates 15 years living in Vienna, Austria, the music capital of Europe where she has been acquiring a solid musical education, worked with world-class musicians and singers and developed exciting music related projects.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.
